The theme for the 2021 Real-World Solutions to Real-World Problems Conference is Expanding the Women-in-Leadership Advantage. Women represent 47% of the world’s workforce, and while the past 40 years have been marked by progress for women in leadership, there is a still a long way to go in most industries to achieve equity—a situation all the more bleak for women of color. In recognition of how the women Walden educates will fill leadership needs in our global society, we are gearing up for our shared future by sponsoring this two-day conference. Participants will engage in a dialogue about cross-disciplinary solutions that address gender inequities for women in leadership. Presentations, workshops, panel discussions and virtual art and poster galleries will showcase work, practice, and critical lessons learned by Walden faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Session Formats

Conference topics include presentations, artwork, panel discussions and workshops relating to how society can benefit from the advantages of women in leadership with respect to culture and/or individuals. Sessions are comprised of various types of work including evidence-based practice, completed research as well as written, visual and performance art.

Conference Goals

• Create an environment that promotes space for learning, dialogue, and inspiration for new perspective building.
• Stimulate new ways of thinking and promote a culture shift for workplaces.
• Provide real-life tools, ideas, practices, and applications to address problems as they are presented relating to gender inequity for women in leadership.
