Cancellation Policy for Events Occurring in the 48 Contiguous United States
Cancellations between 30 and 11 days prior to the event start date will result in a refund minus a 5 percent cancellation fee. If you cancel after this deadline, you will be billed in full for the course.
Cancellation Policy for Events Occurring Outside the 48 Contiguous United States
You may
cancel your registration within your
myWalden university portal for an international or non-contiguous U.S. event without penalty, provided the cancellation request is made at least
84 calendar days (12 weeks) prior to the start of the event.
Cancellations between
84 and 42 days prior to the event start date will result in a refund minus a 5 percent cancellation fee. If you cancel after this deadline, you will be billed in full for the course.
How to Cancel an Academic Residency, Lab or Intensive Retreat
To cancel before the policy deadline:
- Log in to your myWalden university portal.
- Select the “Student Services” tab.
- Select “Review Schedule or Drop Courses.”
- On the next page, select the term in which the event/course takes place.
- Find your residency among the list of courses you are registered for in that term.
- From the drop-down menu that appears to the left of the event/course, select “Web Drop” from the list of options.
- Click “Submit Changes.”
Note: You will not be able to use the above directions after the cancellation deadline for the event/course has passed.

Cancelling Due to an Emergency
If you are cancelling your residency due to an emergency, you may submit a Petition form and supporting documents within 14 days after the event to request a possible refund of course fees. Contact

Walden University takes the safety and security of its students, faculty and staff very seriously and aims to provide credible and timely information to enable you to make well-informed decisions regarding your travel to/from Walden academic events. We will continuously monitor weather situations that may impact your travel to or from Walden’s academic events.

Unless you are notified otherwise, plan for your academic event to take place as scheduled. However, the decision to travel is your choice and you are responsible for your personal safety while traveling. Please monitor news outlets for the latest weather updates and refer to the Inclement Weather Policy below.
Inclement Weather Policy
If your travel to an academic residency or related event is delayed by one day or less due to weather related issues, please email Academic Residencies at
[email protected] AND your faculty member/cohort leader to indicate your arrival delay and your anticipated arrival.
If your travel to an academic residency or related event is delayed by more than one day or cancelled due to weather related issues, please contact
Student Success Advising to petition the residency. Please include documentation of cancellation from the airline or other transportation source. Documentation can include, but is not limited to, original email from airline communicating cancellation, weather report in area you reside with documentation of weather conditions, and other relative documentation.
